The students at BASCS Elementary participated in Violence Awareness Week. This is a state mandated program which gives schools the opportunity to discuss violence prevention and promote a feeling of safety among students in school. During this week, students learned about conflict resolution tips and participated in an activity in class to develop strategies for how to deal with conflicts when communicating with friends. A representative from Children’s Aid and Family Services, a non-profit organization that services Bergen County, visited each of the K-3 classrooms. She told them a story, while using puppets, which focused on teaching students how to manage their feelings. We would like to thank the Children’s Aid and Family Services for spending time with our students and visiting our school.
